What is Search Engine Optimisation?

SEO helps a website to get found by search engines like Google more effectively. The higher a website ranks, the greater the chance that that site will be visited by a user. Typically, a website enjoying the first position in Google will receive 45% or more of all the visitors whilst position two will receive 11% and position ten only 2%.

SEO is split into three basic steps: Research, Optimisation and Authority:


SEO always begins with researching what terms people are likely to be searching for to find your business. Next, I analyse the competitors above you in the search results to figure out their strength and weaknesses. This competitor audit tells me precisely what is needed for you to move above them in the results.

On-Page Optimisation

On-page Optimisation is the art and science of turning your keyword research into high ranking pages. These terms are laid out on the page and in the code in a certain way in order to rank well in the search results. Google has more than 300 ranking factors and around 40% of these are on the website itself.


Authority is convincing Google that you have the most relevant website for their users. Growing your authority is dependent on many factors including, inbound links and content. Quality and not quantity is the key here. I never take chances with a client’s business. All my methods are ethical and within search engine guidelines.
